🏷️ Using Tags to Show Custom RSVP Questions to Specific Guests

Learn how to create tags, assign them to guests, and use them to control which RSVP questions specific groups see.

🏷️ Creating & Assigning Tags

TTO comes with some default tags already set up, but you can also create your own by typing a tag name and pressing Enter.

💡 Tip: You can assign tags in bulk to multiple guests at once, rather than tagging each guest individually.

❓ Connecting Tags to RSVP Questions

Tags work together with your RSVP questions to control who sees what.

By default, questions are shown to all guests. But you can also create a question that's shown only to guests with a specific tag.

Example: Say you want to ask, "Will you come to the pre-rehearsal dinner?" — but only want your close family and wedding crew to see it (not your full guest list).

To do this:

  1. Create the question (e.g. save responses to a column like Attendance – Pre-rehearsal)

  2. Choose whether it's a required question or not

  3. Assign it to only show to guests with a specific tag (e.g. "Mickey's Crew")

📌 Note: When a guest logs in to RSVP and is matched by their email and/or phone number, the system checks their tags and automatically includes any tag-specific questions in their RSVP flow.

👀 How This Looks for Guests

When a tagged guest opens their RSVP, they'll see the extra tag-specific question — guests without that tag won't see it at all, even though everyone sees the standard default questions (like transport interest or a message box).

Example walkthrough:

  • A guest with a plus one (or more) will be prompted to provide missing details — like name — for each additional guest before they can continue

  • Email isn't required for plus ones, only for the primary guest

  • Once the primary guest and their plus ones are filled in, only guests carrying the relevant tag will see the tag-specific question (e.g. the pre-rehearsal dinner question) — other guests in the same household without that tag won't be asked

📌 Note: Guests also see any standard default questions everyone gets, like transport interest or an optional message box - these can be skipped if not required, and don't need a tag to appear.

✏️ Updating Guest Answers After Submission

Once an RSVP has been submitted, responses update automatically in your guest list. If a guest later reaches out saying they made a mistake, you (or the couple) can manually open their entry and overwrite their response directly from the guest list.
