❓ What Is an Unmatched RSVP
An unmatched RSVP happens when TTO can’t automatically identify the guest.
Common reasons include:
A guest uses a different email than the one in your Guestlist
A phone number was entered without a country code
The guest isn’t on your list yet
A shared household email was used by the wrong member
Typos or missing contact information in the Guestlist
Instead of losing the response, TTO safely stores it in your RSVP Inbox.
📥 Where to Find Unmatched RSVPs
You’ll find them in the RSVP Inbox inside the RSVP Manager.
Each entry shows:
Who submitted the response
The answers they provided
The contact information they used
Suggested matches, if available
🧩 How to Match or Assign a Response
When you open an unmatched RSVP, you can choose to:
Match to an existing guest
Select the correct guest from your list
Confirm the match
Their attendance and answers sync instantly
Create a new guest
If the person isn’t on your list:
Click Create Guest
They’ll be added to your Guestlist automatically
Their RSVP answers fill in immediately
Ignore or dismiss the response
Useful for test submissions, duplicates or invalid entries.
✏️ Fixing Incorrect Contact Information
If a match fails because your guestlist has outdated contact info:
Update the guest’s email or phone number in the sidebar
TTO will recognise them correctly for future updates
No need to ask the guest to re-submit
Keeping phone numbers in international format (e.g., +44) helps avoid mismatches.
🔄 What Happens After You Match
Once a response is matched:
Attendance updates automatically
Meal choices and dietary info fill sparkle fields
Plus-one details are added
RSVP totals update instantly
The unmatched response disappears from your inbox
Your Guestlist stays perfectly up-to-date.
💡 Tips to Reduce Unmatched RSVPs
Always collect both email and phone numbers when possible
Ensure guest details in the Guestlist are complete and accurate
Ask couples to share the RSVP link only with invited guests
Use households to help family members RSVP correctly
Avoid using another guest’s email when testing the form
📘 Why This Matters
Managing unmatched RSVPs keeps your event data clean and prevents:
Lost responses
Wrong attendance counts
Incorrect meal totals
Confusion on the floorplan or seating chart
Missing plus-one information
A clean RSVP Inbox means smoother planning and fewer surprises.
