✏️ Starting to Edit
When you open a floorplan and no one else is editing, you'll see "No one is editing" in the upper-left corner of the screen. Simply click ✏️ Start editing to become the active editor and begin making changes. Once you're editing, your avatar and a "You're editing" label will appear in the upper-left corner so others can see that you're active.
🔄 What Happens When Someone Else Is Already Editing?
If another team member — say a planner or coordinator — is already inside the floorplan and actively editing, you'll know straight away. Their name will appear in the upper-left corner (e.g. "Arantxa S. is editing") and a notification will pop up in the upper-right corner of your screen saying "Arantxa S. is now editing — you're watching". This means you're currently in view-only mode, so you can see the floorplan but cannot make any changes yet.
When you're ready to edit, simply click the ✏️ Take over editing button. You'll instantly become the active editor and the previous user will automatically switch to watching mode. They'll be notified that you've taken over, so there's no confusion about who is making changes.
🟢 How Do I Know Who's Editing?
Check the upper-left corner of the floorplan at any time:
"No one is editing" → floorplan is free to edit
"[Name] is editing" → someone else is active
"You're editing" → you are the active editor
💾 How Does Saving Work?
Everything saves automatically in real time - there's no need to manually save your work. As soon as a change is made by the active editor, it's saved and visible to anyone else viewing the floorplan. This means your team always sees the most up-to-date version without needing to refresh.
📌 Note: There may be a short 1-second delay before changes appear on the other user's screen — this is completely normal and part of the real-time sync process!
🤝 Best Practices for Teams
While the takeover feature makes collaboration flexible, we recommend communicating with your team before taking over editing - especially when large layout changes are involved. Taking over mid-edit could interrupt another user's workflow, so a quick heads-up goes a long way.
If you run into any syncing issues while collaborating on a floorplan, please contact support and include the wedding name and floorplan name so we can help you quickly. 😊
